2011 Checkered Flag Fan Club Banquet
On Saturday December 3rd, Jacob Moose Racing (JMR) attended the 60th annual Checkered Flag Fan Club Banquet in Kutztown, PA., to be recognized for the 125cc Points Championship at Shippensburg Speedway. All we can say is the Checkered Flag Fan Club is a first class organization. The Checkered Flag Fan Club was founded in 1951, has over 2000 members, with some very notable drivers such as Kyle Petty, Bill Elliott, A.J. Foyt, Nigel Mansell, the entire Andretti family and the late Dale Earnhardt. They offer financial assistance to a driver that has suffered an injury and provide assistance during their recovery. Jacob has been a member the last two years, and as long as he is racing, we will continue to be members and support their organization.
Everything about this banquet was great, the food was a Pennsylvania Dutch menu and very good. Great people, from all different types of racing like, go-karts, micros, full sized sprint cars, stock cars, etc…. from tracks in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Probably the most exciting part of the evening was the awards that were presented. They gave all track Champions a “gold” racing helmet trophy, a very unique award, but very cool. Jacob has said that he would like to be able to attend the banquet next year, to see what the trophies will be like next year. In order to be invited, he will need to win a Points Championship again in 2012.
JMR had a very good time at the Checkered Flag Fan Club Banquet, and would like to say thank you to the entire organizations Board of Directors and Officers, and we hope to be able to attend next year. For more information about the Checkered Flag Fan Club, the link will be posted under the “Links” tab on Jacob’s website. Photos are posted from the banquet and of the very neat trophy also.
