Nienhiser Fourth with MOWA at Jacksonville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Venturing to Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night to battle with the both the WAR Non-Win Sprint Cars and the MOWA winged series, Paul Nienhiser would eventually park the non-wing car following heat races before battling for the MOWA win and settling for a fourth place finish.

“It was a fun Friday night,” Nienhiser said. “I turned my first ever laps in a non-wing car and had some speed, and we flirted with the win in the winged car.”

With 42 WAR cars checked in, Nienhiser would flex his muscle early in the night as he would wind up third quickest in hot laps, which would be his only laps prior to his heat.

The Chapin, IL pilot would grid the field from the second row of his WAR heat race and somehow would have suspension issues getting into turn one as a torsion arm would give way.

Still in third despite the issue, Nienhiser would try to race on and would end up bouncing into the turn three wall but was able to get slowed up enough before contact to avoid major damage. Following this, his night with WAR would be over as he turned his sole focus to MOWA action.

With 33 winged cars in the pit area, Nienhiser timed his CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry in third quickest in time trials before muscling his entry to an important fourth place finish despite losing power steering on the opening lap.

The fourth place finish would be important as it would put him in the redraw based on his time trial effort and the seven pill put him in the fourth row for the feature event.

Under green, much of the field would go to work on the tracks’ preferred line which was the top on this night, but Nienhiser had other ideas as he was able to make the bottom groove work and race his way up to second late in the race.

A pivotal yellow with eight laps to go would put Nienhiser on Justin Peck’s rear bumper and he would follow him once the green flag was displayed again. Dipping low to try and make his move late in the race, Nienhiser would miss his mark and clip the tire which caused him to get his front wheels in the air.

Still able to clear the slider, Nienhiser thought he would be good but a handful of cars were able to turn down under him as he slid through the slick and put him back to fourth where he would finish.

“We went for it, and just came up short,” Nienhiser said. “It was a fun race, and as things get closer to wrapping up this season we will continue to do what we have been doing and look for a few more wins before winter.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, JRC Transportation, Signature Signs and Design, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-54, Wins-8, Top 5’s-14, Top 10’s-25
