August 1st Friday Race Night Recap with Tri-State Sprints

We had a perfect day for racing at Corrigan Oil Speedway on Friday, August 1st! The Tri-State Sprints, Performance Automotive Northwest Modifieds, DuroTech Automotive Mini Wedges, Premier Carpentry & Painting FWDs, and the COS Street Stocks. The action was great ALL night long! Here is the full recap from August 1st!

The future of our sport, the DuroTech Mini Wedges kicked off our heat race action as well as our feature races for the evening. Joey Barnhart in his 45 mini wedge dominated the Junior Division (5-9 years old). Joey showed the field why he is the defending champion winning both the heat and the feature congrats Joey! Our Senior Division (10-14 years old), Ace Hart also followed the same pattern winning the heat and the feature as well! After he was done racing, he went into the grandstands to throw flags! Mini Wedges will return for our FINAL Night of Destruction of 2025 on Friday, August 15th!

Our guests on Friday, August 1st was the visiting and growing sprint car series known as the Tri-State Sprints! They brought with them 2 drivers from South Africa Jacque Roos (Pronounced Roo-iss), and Quinten Saaymen (pronounced sy-men). Both of these drivers led the feature for a few laps before both competitors ran out of fuel! John Trudell Shaheen Chevrolet Cadillac Late Model Sportsman standout, won his FIRST EVER sprint car race! Congrats John from all of us at COS! The Performance Automotive Northwest Modifieds were after the sprints for their 40 lap main event! Matt Vainner and Joey Barnhart picked up right from where they left off from Sunday, July 27th. Matt Vainner was victorious once again picking up 2 feature wins in less than a week! Here is the full results behind Vainner: 2nd 45-Joey Barnhart; 3rd 12X-Michael Occhipinti; 4th 7-Jon McNett; 5th 5H-Bill Heeney Jr; 6th 1H-Tyler Heeney; 7th 911-Richard Maurer; 8th Did Not Finish 9S-Dominic Shauver; 9th Did Not Finish 35H-Eddie Hill. We will see the Performance Automotive Northwest Modifieds will return on Friday, August 29th to crown their champion!

Premier Carpentry & Painting FWDs were also in attendance fresh off their show that took place on July 27th. We had 17 FWDs total so enough cars for an A and a B class. Here is the full results and recap.

A Division:

Pat Dent won both the heat and the feature clinching FEATURE WIN #5 ON THE SEASON! B Division:

Josh Sattler took home the heat race win, while his teammate Zach Steiner won the feature! Making it his 2nd for the season! Corrigan Oil Speedway Street Stocks:

The Street Stocks ended our racing program on Friday, August 1st and they put on a great show! Mike Havens won the heat, and Bryan Passick won the feature Maverick Morrow led almost the whole feature until a late race caution caused him to give the lead up! Rob “Oil Can Newman has came out of retirement with his unique “G Wagon” Street Stock welcome back Rob! Here is the complete results:
