Cabot Bigham
Victory is close for Bigham
March 25 marked the third Red Line Oil Karting race. Bigham performed at the top of his game.
"I learned a lot about my chassis. Brian Keck and I worked extra hard on our testing day and it was a success" - Bigham.
Cabot qualified in P3 at the start of the day. This was the first race where the track was not damp during qualifying runs. The first heat race was a bold statement. Brian Keck and Cabot piloted their CRG's and gold suits to the 1 and 2 positions, seconds ahead of the field. The second heat race was not as successful for Bigham due to a brake system issue, he finished 4th. All these results put Bigham in 3rd place for the final event. Bigham had an excellent start out the gate, shooting into second. After one lap Bigham was close on Brian Keck's (the leader) tail. A quick and clean pass into Monaco (turn 2) put Bigham in the lead. Leader Brian Keck had engine troubles and retired. 10 laps into the race Bigham was passed for the lead. With several opportunities to pass Bigham decided to wait until the white flag lap. Unfortunately he overshot a few corners and ruined his run putting Bigham in second place by a matter of tenths. This weekend was an excellent display of driver advancement.
Many thanks to Brian Keck, Ron White, Red Line Oil, my parents, and supporters. On to the next one!
