Clay Harris double dips at Waycross and Hendry County

Taking part in the Southern Clash Late Models season opener, Clay Harris invaded Waycross Motor Speedway (Waycross, Ga.) on Friday evening to pilot his Rescue Metal Framing No. 6 Late Model for the Davy Woodard Memorial.

Drawing 16 cars, Harris secured his spot into main event with the second-fastest qualifying lap. Overtaking fast qualifier and race-long pacesetter Mark Whitener with two laps remaining, Harris soared to his third win of the season, finishing ahead of Whitener, Kyle Van Sickle, Jordy Nipper, and Jim Rogers. He pocketed $2,589.

The following night at Hendry County Motorsports Park (Clewistown, Fla.), Clay’s qualifying effort placed him on the front row for the feature. Leading flag-to-flag in the 40-lap affair, Harris collected his second win in as many nights and $4,000 prize. His fourth win of the 2023 campaign came ahead of Brenden Smith, Eli Johnson, Steve Mathis, Daniel Woody.
