Tulsa Oklahoma (April 22. 2013) – After a week off due to the rainout of the Humboldt Speedway event last weekend, the Oil Capital Racing Series sprint car teams now set their target sights for the all-new “Outlaw Motorsports Park” in Wainwright Oklahoma. The first three events of the 2013 season have been extremely surprising and exciting. Harli White, aka “The Lindsay Flash”, set notice she has arrived as a solid front-runner on the sprint car scene by taking the season opening event with the sprinters running ‘old-school’ style by competing in a non-winged affair. While White started on the pole position for that triumph, she backed that win up with the wings mounted the next time out and this time, she came from the 12th spot in the field to win!
The sixth row starting position was a result of the new inversion format that reverses the starting grid of the top 12 cars that qualify for the A-Feature based on their feature point averages. The move was made to provide race fans an enhanced show that puts a premium on passing. The third night out saw Brodix / Pm-Pro rookie of the year candidate Kade Morton win his first ever sprint car event in only his sixth time out in a sprinter! It was a victory that literally shocked everyone in attendance. OCRS officials were aware of Morton’s micro sprint successes but to win as quickly as he did was a surprise. Especially when multi time feature winner, Whit “Gasman” Gastineau hounded him repeatedly throughout the race. White again started 12th and earned a fourth place finish to earn her second AmeriFlex Hose and Accessories “Hard Charger” award. The OCRS season is definitely off to an interesting start and the buzz about what is taking place in the series is being heard.
This Saturday night, the OCRS teams will take to the ultra quick 3/8-mile track, which is now operated by proprietors Carey and Nichole Menasco. A new winner for OMP could find themselves in victory lane. Since 2008 when OCRS started gracing OMP soil, there have been 9 winners out of 22 events for nearly a 50% clip of win to start ratio. Will Morton or White add another win and make their first trip to victory lane at OMP?
Or……… will we see another first time OMP winner emerge from the shadows? Come see what happens this Saturday!
