PETERSEN MEDIA: Following a so-so night at Gas City I69 Speedway on Friday night, Robert Ballou caused some fireworks on Saturday night in Plymouth, IN as he charged form his 11th starting position and came oh-so-close to pulling off a thrilling win only to end up with a third place finish.

“We went for it there at the end, and we almost came out with the win,” Robert Ballou said. “We are getting better and better each nigh, and I am looking forward to these races we have coming up.”

Saturday night at Plymouth Speedway, Ballou opened the night up by timing the Dickinson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards backed No. 12 entry in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Racing to a second place finish in heat race action, the Rocklin, CA native would grid the field from the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event. On the racy surface, Ballou lived up to his ‘Mad Man’ mantra and began working his way forward.

Continuing to get better as the race moved along, Ballou would find himself up in the second spot and chasing after Kevin Thomas, Jr with the white flag in the air. As the duo ran hard into turns one and two incidental contact would see Ballou exit turn two with the race lead but in three and four Thomas would have an answer as he slid up in front of Ballou to fight for the lead.

As Ballou tried to turn under Thomas, his entry would break free and he would nearly spin out but was able to hang on and gather himself back up to take the checkered flag in the third spot.

Ballou and company were also in action on Friday in Gas City, IN. After struggling in hot lap/time trials, Ballou would line up in the third row of his heat race. Seemingly getting a handle on his Ballou Motorsports machine, Ballou would race his way up to a third place finish at the stripe.

Late to the staging area, Ballou would forfeit his scheduled starting position of ninth and would then line up in the 11th starting position. Driving a good race, Ballou would race his way up into sixth with a few laps to go and on the final lap he would look to make a big move to fourth.

With contact nearly getting Ballou upside-down he was able to save it, and hang on to finish seventh on this night.

“Friday night we definitely missed it a little, but we bounced back and ran well Saturday,” Ballou noted. “We are continuing to work hard and will give it all we have at Eldora this weekend.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Boss Chassis, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.
