Unique Trophy Awaits NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Nu-Way Auto Parts 150 Winner at Lancaster

LANCASTER, N.Y. (August 1, 2024) – A trophy is defined as a decorative object awarded as a prize for a victory or success. The winner of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Nu-Way Auto Parts 150 at Lancaster Motorplex on Saturday will receive a unique trophy. The piece will not only commemorate the victorious event but will also pay homage to a strong history of racing at the facility.

The ‘object’ is a competition fueling dump can provided courtesy of Schultz Fueling Technologies of Neptune, NJ. The custom color is a PPG paint color that has become known in Western, NY, as "Fidanza Bros. red". Lancaster faithful will recognize the vibrant red as the color that donned "Super" Sege Fidanza’s Modifieds beginning in the early 90’s. But the connection to Sege doesn’t end there. The piece was painted at Frank’s Collision in Middleport, NY, by Sege himself.

Sege Fidanza is the most prolific driver in Lancaster’s 65-year history, posting 112 Modified divisional wins, and has a total of 127 checkered flags at the facility.

Another former Lancaster Motorplex competitor has been integral to the creation of the trophy. Jeff Ulrich, owner of Hydro Fabrication, Inc., also of Middleport, is responsible for the beautiful custom aluminum work. Using waterjet technology, he created the commemorative plate. Jeff was the 1999 Sportsman division champion and has a Modified division win to his credit.

The custom trophy also holds special significance to Mike Myers, owner of Speed Enterprises Entertainment, special consultant to Lancaster Motorplex for the event, who lost his young son 3 years ago. “Having Zach’s logo on the trophy is really important to me,” said Myers, “It allows me to continue to take Zach along on this ride with me.”

Fans will be invited to enjoy a photo op with the trophy during the Modified Tour autograph session currently scheduled for 5:45pm on Saturday.

The trophy will be unveiled on Speed Enterprises Entertainment’s Facebook page on Friday evening.

Grandstands open at 2:00pm. Practice starts at 2:30pm with racing getting underway at 5:00pm. Grandstand tickets are on sale at SeetheEvents.com. Adult general admission tickets are $40. Seniors (ages 65+) and Military discounted tickets are available for $35, Kids ages 4-12 tickets are $10. Children 3 years of age and under are admitted free.

A full-racing card on this special night featuring the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will also include sportsmen, street stocks, and four-cylinders. Fireworks will be presented by Skylighters of New York.
