Solwold Strikes for ASCS Northwest Win at Grays Harbor!

ASCS Northwest Media, ELMA, Wash. (May 28, 2011) – Speeds of 108-125 mph were clocked after the crew at Grays Harbor Raceway reworked the 3/8-mile clay oval after a three hour rain delay for the first of two ASCS Northwest nights in Elma.

And consistently turning the quickest of those laps was defending ASCS Northwest champion Jason Solwold in the Shark-powered Xtreme Oilfield Technology/Scott Safety/Northern Provincial Pipelines No. 39c Maxim, as he scored a commanding win in the 30-lapper by racing to the checkered flag virtually unchallenged.

With action throughout the field in his wake, Solwold posted his first series win of the year and sixth career in ASCS Northwest competition.

Fifteen-year-old Trey Stark jumped from his fourth staring position into second after making an impressive pass on lap six past Enumclaw’s Henry Van Dam. Former ASCS Champion Roger Crockett pushed his way from 13th to third, tucking another Travis Rutz Hard Charger Award under his belt. Lucas Oil ASCS National driver Seth Bergman jumped to fourth with Van Dam rounding out the top five.

Currently second in points with the Lucas Oil ASCS National series, Johnny Herrera was looking strong in third place till about lap 26 when his car mysteriously slowed to a stop on the front stretch.

Last week’s winner at Grays Harbor Raceway’s weekly show, Garen Linder finished sixth with Randy VanAagten moving up two places to seventh. Starting the feature race in the last position, Jared Peterson went home with a respectable eighth place finish with Mitch Olson and Jason Cocking wrapping up the top ten.

Don’t miss the next heated battle of ASCS Northwest sprint car action tomorrow at Grays Harbor Raceway starting at 6:30pm.
