Best of Both Worlds Await the Lucas Oil ASCS this Weekend

Bryan Hulbert - Tulsa, Oklahoma (August 20, 2012) When it comes to sheer speed, the Salina Highbanks in Salina, Oklahoma sits high on the list of tracks visited by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV.

When it comes to a cowboy up bullring with the long history of ASCS competition, all roads lead to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas and for the drivers and fans of the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV, this coming Friday and Saturday night serves as a double dip of racing delight.

Scheduled for Friday August 24th, the Salina Highbanks Speedway will mark the final appearance of the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV in the “Sooner State” for the 2012 season.

Making the third time this season the American Sprint Car Series has graced the thirty-degreed corners of the Highbanks, front runners Wayne Johnson and Jason Johnson have each visited victory lane at the 4/10 mile facility. In the eight events held at the Salina Highbanks, Wayne Johnson tops the list in victories with three. Gary Wright has a pair of victories while Tim Crawley, Paul White, and Jason Johnson each have one win.

Setting up for their final test and tune before the 25th Short Track Nationals, the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV will be at I-30 Speedway on Saturday August 25th.

With fifty-eight prior visits since 1993, Gary Wright tops the field as the all-time feature winner with thirteen victories to his credit. In the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV’s last showing at the quarter mile on June 30th, the Texan nearly grabbed the win from Jason Johnson on the closing lap. The June 30th date is only the second runner up finish Gary Wright has been able to muster in 2012. Never the less, Gary Wright’s thirteen victories at Hammer Hill top the list of drivers who have won at I-30 Speedway with Jason Johnson second to Wright with only five.

Bagging his eighth win of the 2012 season this past Saturday at Lawton Speedway, Wayne Johnson assumed the points lead, making it now nine times that Wayne has traded the lead with Jason Johnson. With victory in hand this past Saturday, post-race inspection found the MVT No. 41 missing a mandatory muffler resulting in disqualification. Johnson was given last place points for the infraction.

Brady Bacon continues to ride third in tour standings. Getting his sixth win of the season at Creek County Speedway this past Friday, the Fatheadz Eyewear No. 99 is currently 174 points behind Johnson’s Missile Motorsports No. 77x.

Taking over fourth after capturing his first win with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV at Santa Maria Speedway, Brad Loyet sits only eleven points ahead of Johnny Herrera who has had to play catch-up after suffering a back injury at Kings Speedway in Hanford, California. Both drivers have had nearly equal runs this season with both garnering thirty top ten finishes.

Tony Bruce Jr. continues to ride sixth with Seth Bergman seventh. After falling back to tenth, Gary Wright has fought his way back into eighth with Dustin Morgan and Logan Forler currently making up the top ten on tour standings.
