ASCS Warriors Return to Action at RCR and Double X

TULSA, Okla. (July 16, 2014) - After a break from the Tiger Towing Red, White, and Blue tour, the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region is back in action this weekend at a pair of track from the four day swing as the rain delayed events from the Randolph County Raceway will take place on Saturday, July 19 followed by the month's third visit to the Double X Speedway on Sunday, July 20.

The fourth annual Bob Whitehead Memorial at the Randolph County Raceway, race are scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M. (CT). A $1,500 to win event for the ASCS Warriors, the night also includes ULMA Late Models, USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods, Hobby Stocks, and four-cylinder class. Tickets and Pit Passes purchased at the July 5 rainout will be honored this Saturday. For more information, log onto http://www.randolphcountyraceway.com. Three visits in 2013 saw Jonathan Cornell top the field on July 6 and August 31. Brian Brown raced to a $4,000 payday on September 1.

One name that has been the top of the Double X Speedway this season is Jonathan Cornell. A bed of weekly Sprint Car racing in Missouri, Cornell has won the last six at the quater-mile, including the last two ASCS Warrior Region events. Returning on Sunday for the Clyde Wood Memorial, the winner's share will be $1,500 with the undercard finding 600cc Micro, Hobby Stocks, and Street Stocks in action. Races begin at 7:30 P.M. (CT). Current Warrior Region points leader, Jay Russell, is the defending champion of the Clyde Wood Memorial, leading the night's 30 lap feature start-to-finish in 2013.

Going into the weekend, the Elwood, Kan. driver holds a slim 12 point advantage over Randy Hibbs. Kyle Bellm is currently third 52 points out with Jonathan Cornell closing the gap to 92 markers with three straight wins over the Independence Day Weekend. J.R. Topper currently rounds out the top five with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region.
