Hagar Earns Eighth Win of Season During Event at Jackson Motor Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – BYRAM, Miss. (Oct. 3, 2019) – Derek Hagar made the most of his visit to Jackson Motor Speedway last Saturday as he was able to pick up his eighth victory of the season.

Hagar swept the night by winning a heat race and the ASCS Mid-South Region main event.

“We had a good car all night long,” he said. “We started sixth in our heat race and passed a lot of cars. We made it up to first and were able to win it.”

Hagar’s heat race performance labeled him the high point driver of the night. His daughter was good luck and drew him the No. 1 during the feature redraw, which started him on the pole of the main event.

“We maintained the lead from the start,” he said. “I led every lap and we were able to win the race. I’m excited to get another one under my belt this season. We have a competitive race this weekend so hopefully we can carry that over.”

Hagar will take the momentum from his win into one of his favorite events – the 32nd annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires Nationals. I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., hosts the ASCS Mid-South Region doubleheader this Friday and Saturday. More than 50 drivers have already pre-entered.

“My first Short Track Nationals was back when I was 15-years-old,” Hagar said. “There were 100 and some cars there. It’s still a highly competitive race. I’m not sure how many features I’ve made since I started racing it, but hopefully we can find ourselves in Victory Lane this weekend.”

Hagar finished second during the preliminary night of the event last year. His best result during the finale was a seventh-place run in 2017.
