Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (Oct. 17, 2019) – Roger Crockett hustled to his seventh podium finish in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition this season during the Fall Fling finale last Saturday.

Creek County Speedway hosted the doubleheader, which was shortened to one day after Friday’s opener rained out. Crockett was strong both times he hit the track on Saturday, advancing from third to second place in a heat race to kick off the action.

“We had a pretty tough heat race with (Matt) Covington on the pole and Blake (Hahn) next to me,” he said. “It was important to move forward.”

Crockett drew the No. 7 during the feature redraw to line up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.

“Our car was super, super good at the end of the race,” he said. “I was trying to make sure we didn’t get torn up early. The track was wet the first part of the race, but it ended up slicking off. We got a really good restart and we were able to get three of them when they got bottled up. Being overly aggressive can cost you in an instant on a track that size. There’s not a ton of racing room.”

Crockett made a late-race pass on Covington for the runner-up position, which increased his advantage for third place in the championship standings with only four races remaining.

“It was really important,” Crockett said. “Covington is who are battling for third in points and we were able to get by him for second with a couple laps to go. I feel like we’ve built some momentum.”

Next up Crockett and the ASCS National Tour venture to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, this Friday and Saturday for the 46th annual Winter Nationals.

“Devil’s Bowl has been a good track for me,” he said. “I’m looking forward to going there with this new car. I anticipate it to be really good at this track.”
