Hedgecock Gobbles Leftover at 411

SEYMOUR, TENNESSEE (November 27, 2021)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series concluded their 2021 racing seasons on Saturday at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN with the 6th Annual Leftover. In Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series action, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN would take the lead just past the halfway mark and drive on to capture the $5,000 payday and his first-ever Leftover victory.

The win by the 29-year old Hedgecock would be sixth career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series victory and would be his third of the season and would come aboard his Black Diamond Chassis powered by an Eagle Race Engine and carries sponsorship from E-Z-GO, Eagle Racing Engines, Voo Doo Technology, Pace Performance, K and P Used Cars, Boyd-Bilt Fabrication, Budget Transmissions, Green’s Recycling, I-75 Raceway, Hoosier Tire, Ohlins Shocks, VP Racing Fuels, and Brucebilt Performance.

Pierce McCarter would take the start to begin the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series feature contest, with Forrest Trent, Cory Hedgecock, Dustin Linville, and Eli Beets in pursuit. The front five would remain the same as McCarter entered slower traffic and began lapping cars on lap eight. Jensen Ford would begin to pressure Beets for the fifth position, with the pair battling for four circuits until Beets spun his machine in turn four to draw the only caution of the event on lap twelve. The restart would see McCarter maintain the lead, with Hedgecock taking second from Trent, while Ford grabbed fourth from Linville. Ford would take third from Trent on lap thirteen, only to have Trent reclaim the position on lap fourteen, while Linville would take fourth from Ford on lap sixteen. Meanwhile, Hedgecock had closed in on leader McCarter as the duo began working slower traffic once again and Hedgecock would slide in front of McCarter exiting turn four on lap nineteen, only to have McCarter cross over beneath him and regain the lead at the start/finish line and maintain the lead. The pair would trade sliders for one more circuit before Hedgecock would claim the lead for good on lap twenty-one. Ford would reclaim the fourth position from Linville on lap twenty-two and would grab the third position on lap twenty-four. As Hedgecock would work slower traffic to perfection, Ford would begin the process of reeling in second place McCarter. Meanwhile, Josh Rice would make his way into the top five when he would take the fifth position from Trent on lap thirty. With Hedgecock maintaining a comfortable margin out front, Ford began to pressure McCarter for the second position and would finally claim the spot on lap thirty-six. Ford would close on Hedgecock a bit in the remaining laps, by Hedgecock would see the checkered flag first, with Ford settling for runner-up honors, while Linville would make a turn four, last lap pass of McCarter to claim third, with McCarter finishing fourth, and Rice fifth. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Chase King, Trent, Kyle Hardy, Colten Burdette, and Scott James.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series feature event would see two caution flags wave before one lap was officially completed, but the third time would be the charm and Brandon Kinzer would grab the race lead, followed by Lucas Lee, Michael Asberry, Blake Brown, and Clayton Miller. Miller would take the fourth position from Brown on lap two, while Kinzer began to stretch his lead in the early going. The front five remained the same as the final caution of the race waved on lap eight. The restart would see Lee stay with Kinzer and that pair would settle into a battle for the top spot until Lee would take the lead from Kinzer on lap twenty-one and maintain a slight advantage over the Kinzer the remainder of the event to score the win, with Kinzer finishing second, while Asberry completed the podium in the third position. Miller and Brown would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Amos Bunch, Tommy Bailey, K.C. Burdette, Ricky Tinch, and Jacob Hall.

These events conclude the 2021 season for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series.
