Sam Hafertepe Jr
Knoxville Re-Cap for Sam Hafertepe Jr.
World of Outlaw driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. out of Sunnyvale, Texas, takes the PlumbFast Racing Team to the 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals. The Nationals began on Thursday for Sam and starting the week out right, Hafertepe put the GH Plumbing sprint car 6th quick in the rankings out of a field of 56 on the second night of qualifying. Finishing eighth in the heat race put Sam in the B-Main in which he knew he had to transfer to put him into the Preliminary A-Main Event. With his elbows up, Sam raced to the third spot in the B-Main which gave him a rear starting position of third for the A-Prelim of the Knoxville Nationals. Starting 23rd in the Main, Hafertepe put the hammer down and raced his way all the way up to the 8th spot until an unfortunate spin on the last lap cost him the position. “The car was perfect all night,” explains Sam, “but, on the last lap, I experienced something I never had before, the car just let loose and turned me around.” Sam ended the Prelim night in the 23rd spot. With desire of turning the tables from the previous night, Friday night was the “B Scramble” for the PlumbFast Racing Team. Pulling off a respectable 9th place finish was the best Hafertepe could do for the third night of the Nationals. On the final night of the show, Hafertepe had one last chance to make it into the Main Event of the 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals. The B-Main was where Hafertepe was and starting in the tenth position, Sam and the gang knew they had their work cut out for them. Unfortunately, with the track the way it was and not a lot of passing going on, Sam moved up one spot, but was just not able to make it into the show. It has been a very respectable season for Sam and the PlumbFast Racing Team, they definitely have the right people in the right spot to put the team up front, so make sure you sit at the edge of your seat and follow Sam through his website www.sam15.com for all the latest results and press releases as for soon to come, a victory with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws.
