Week before the Nationals for PlumbFast Racing

Sam Hafertepe Jr. brings the PlumbFast Racing Team to Paducah, KY for the next event on the schedule for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws. Starting the night out right transferring through the heat race, Sam started the main in the eighteenth position. Attempting to add yet another top ten finish to the stats, Sam fell just one spot shy as he was able to race the G&H Plumbing J&J Chassis through the field up to the 11th spot. With only one day off, Sam and the gang traveled to West Burlington, IA for the next event held at 34 Raceway. Sam held quick time throughout qualifying with a time of 12.258 until Steve Kinser decided to come out and beat Sam’s time by just 8 thousandths of a second. With the night unfolding Sam transferred into the Dash in which he was then able to line himself up in the 7th spot for the 35 lap contest. With the rain coming down the night before making the track an unusual sticky surface, it turned the racetrack into a hammer down fast pace race with an unfortunate limited amount of passing. Sam was still able to keep the car up front in the top 12 for the evening and showed a very respectable finish for the PlumbFast Racing Team.

With another day off before the unfamiliar venue of Wilmot Speedway in Wisconsin, the PlumbFast Team utilized the day to build a brand new J&J Chassis hot rod. Sam took the new machine on the track for the first time on an unfamiliar surface and was in the top five of lap times in hot laps throughout the other 43 competitors. Sam made the transfer in the Heat to start him on the inside of the 7th row for the main event. With the car really only working on the bottom, Sam still managed to make it through all 40 laps and finish 14th just one spot back from where he started. Shaking down a new car at a new track is never an easy feat, but being the competitors that Sam and team are, they are certainly able to make that process look simple. With no time off, it was time to head to Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, WI. Sam took the new G&H Plumbing J&J Chassis to the top of the charts in qualifying setting 3rd quick to start the night out right. Finishing 2nd in the heat race put Sam in the dash in which he was able to race his way up to a 7th. If you are fast enough to make it in the dash, where you finish is where you will be starting in the Main Event. Sam began the feature on the inside of the 4th row and pulled out a respectable 12th place finish for the G&H Plumbing J&J Chassis.

With the Knoxville Nationals just a few days away, Sam and the gang made a last minute decision to travel to Oskaloosa, IA on Monday and compete in the “Front Row Challenge” for 50 large. Sam put the G&H Plumbing J&J Chassis 12th quick in the lineup and then transferred out of the heat and into the Main Event. Sam started on the inside of the 6th row and raced his way up to the ninth spot to finish out the evening. Sam and the gang will have a couple days off before the start of the nationals, so the team will utilize this time to get the motors and cars in the best of shape before qualifying this Thursday for the 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil at the legendary home of sprint car racing, Knoxville Raceway.
