Two Top Tens for Hafertepe in Past Three Shows
World of Outlaw driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. out of Sunnyvale, TX puts the G&H Plumbing J&J in the top ten two out of the past three shows. The night before the fourth of July Sam and the team traveled to Huset's Speedway in Brandon, SD for the second time in 2008 with the World of Outlaws. Sam made a top ten qualifying effort and set ninth quick to start out the night. Sam won the heat, but unfortunately cut a tire at the end of the race, and with the WoO rules, Sam had to start the Dash with a leaking right rear tire. With an ill-handling race car due to the right rear tire going down, Sam was still able to put the car in the ninth spot ahead of Terry McCarl. Starting 9th in the Main at Huset's Speedway, Sam kept moving forward all night and put the G&H Plumbing, J&J near the top five at sixth. After the Huset's show, the Plumb Fast Racing Team packed up and made the 12 hour journey to the next event in West Memphis, AR.
Sam qualified 15th to start out the night at Riverside International Speedway out of a field of 32 cars which put him into position to finish third in his heat race. Starting 15th in the Main, Hafertepe put the car into the 11th spot when on lap 13, Sam and another guy got together spinning the G&H Plumbing J&J, sending him back to the tail end of 24 cars. Sam, being known as a hard charger, raced his way back up to the 16th position to end his night. Next on the World of Outlaw schedule was Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, the following night. Sam qualified 6th quick out of 30 cars which put him on the outside of the front row for the heat race. Hafertepe was able to dominate the heat and put the G&H Plumbing J&J Chassis in the dash. Finishing seventh in the dash put Sam in the fourth row for the Main Event at Tri-State Speedway. Sam raced his way near the top five again finishing in the sixth position. This makes 11 top ten finishes for the Plumb Fast Racing Team with the World of Outlaws, so be sure to keep up to date for that a win for Hafertepe is certainly near to come.
Next up for the Hafertepe team is the "Month of Money," the Brad Doty Classic in Lima, OH followed by a two day event at Eldora which includes the Legendary Kings Royal.
