The Scenic Pacific Northwest: Kraig Kinser Heads to Skagit Speedway & Cottage Grove Speedway

By Parsons Motorsports PR

Granger, IA—August 30, 2011—Kraig Kinser will never forget his visit to Cottage Grove Speedway in 2004. Not only was it his first trip to the high-banked ¼-mile bullring, but more importantly he picked up his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win that night.

The third generation driver will have a chance to compete at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore. on Labor Day this year, following a pair of events at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. this weekend. The trio of races in the Pacific Northwest kicks off for Kinser and the Casey’s General Store team at Skagit on Friday, Sept. 2 and continues on Saturday, Sept. 3 with another full racing program, with the event at Cottage Grove on tap for Monday, Sept. 5, as the 2011 Gold Rush Tour kicks off.

Kinser debuted at Skagit Speedway in 2008, finishing in the eighth position. He came home a career-best fourth in the opener in 2009 at the high-banked three-tenths-mile and followed that up with a seventh-place run in the finale that same year. Kinser finished eighth in the finale at Skagit Speedway last season after a 13th-place performance in the opener. He has four career Top-10 finishes at the track in six starts.

The native of Bloomington, Indiana made his first career start at Cottage Grove Speedway on Aug. 31, 2004, picking up his first series win in that event over his father Steve. Kraig has made five career starts at the ¼-mile bullring picking up two Top-10 finishes along the way. He was third fastest in time trials last season at Cottage Grove Speedway, finishing fourth in the third heat race to earn a spot in the dash. After lining up fifth in the main event, he finished 11th in the 40-lapper.

Kinser enters the trio of races over the Labor Day weekend, 10th in the World of Outlaws championship standings with 15 Top-10 finishes as he continues his first season driving for the Parsons Motorsports team.

Kraig on Skagit Speedway:
“Heading to Skagit is one of the most scenic areas that we travel to all year. The Pacific Northwest is such a nice place and it’s always relaxing to have a few days up in that area to kind of unwind before getting to the track and back at it. I ran pretty good there last year and that’s another of those places where things happen in a hurry, so you have to always be on your toes and be ready.”

Kraig on Cottage Grove Speedway:
“It’s always great to go to Cottage Grove. I’ll never forget getting my first World of Outlaws win. Racing for the win with my dad in that one was pretty special. I’ve always seemed to have had pretty good luck there and a pretty good set up and that track suits my driving style. We’ve been working on a few things the last few weeks and have learned a bunch of stuff that should continue to help us here down the stretch.”
