Kraig Kinser Earns 18th Top-10 Finish of the Season at Clay County Fair Speedway

Bloomington, Ind.—June 10, 2012— Kraig Kinser recorded 23 Top-10 finishes last year, and is well on his way to surpassing that mark this season, as he earned his 18th Top-10 showing of 2012 over the weekend at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, with a ninth-place performance. The native of Bloomington, Ind., is currently tied for the third-most Top-10 finishes with the series through 27 events this season.

Kinser lined up 11th in the Hendrickcars.com Maxim for the 30-lap main event at Clay County on Friday, June 8. The first yellow flag of the night flew on the initial start, leading to a complete restart. Kinser restarted ninth and worked his way up to eighth by the third circuit. He moved into seventh on lap-10 and ran in that position for four laps, before falling back to eighth.

On a restart just past the halfway point of the A-Feature, Kinser got around four-time series champion Donny Schatz to move back into seventh. Kinser dropped to ninth on the 20th circuit, when his father Steve and Schatz both got around him. The third-generation driver would run ninth for the remainder of the main event, en route to earn his sixth consecutive Top-10 finish. Kinser was seventh-fastest in time trials at Clay County of the 29 entries. He started second in the first eight-lap heat race and finished third, coming up just one spot short of making the dash.

In the weekend finale at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday, June 9, Kinser turned the 14th-fastest lap in time trials, which put him on the pole of the second eight-lap heat race. He would finish third in that contest, again coming just one position away from earning berth in the dash. Kinser started 16th in the 25-lap main event and would finish 19th, on a track that was very challenging to pass on. The World of Outlaws will return to Knoxville in August for the 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals, an event that Kinser won in 2005.

Kinser is currently sixth in the World of Outlaws championship standings on the strength of 18 Top-10 finishes. He returns to action on Friday, June 15, at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., followed by a visit to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., on Saturday, June 16.
