World of Outlaws Championship Standings Tighten after Paducah & Pevely: Joey Saldana Moves within 17 markers of Jason Meyers in Title Fight
Concord, NC— April 19, 2010—Joey Saldana used a win and a runner-up finish over the weekend to move to within 17 points of current championship leader Jason Meyers in the World of Outlaws standings. Saldana scored his third win of the season at I-55 Raceway on Saturday night, after finishing second on Friday at Paducah International Raceway. He leads the series with nine Top-Five finishes and has finished in the Top-10 in 11 of the first 12 races as he chases his first series title.
Meyers used solid runs of fourth and seventh to stay on top of the standings, as he too seeks his first series crown. The native of Clovis, California remains the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in each and every race in 2010. He leads the series with four wins and has led the championship standings since a win at Volunteer Speedway on March 20.
Steve Kinser finished fifth at I-55 and was ninth at Paducah to remain third in points, just 13 markers behind Saldana and 30 out of the lead. The 20-time series champion has finished in the Top-10 in 11 of 12 races this season.
Donny Schatz finished fifth at Paducah and was sixth at I-55 to remain fourth in points. The four-time and defending series champion has 10 Top-10 finishes on the season with six of those being Top-Five performances.
Jason Sides came from the 15th starting spot at I-55 to finish third to remain fifth in points. The native of Bartlett, Tennessee has eight Top-10 finishes this season with five of those being Top-Five performances.
Danny Lasoski finished sixth at Paducah to pick up his seventh Top-10 of the season. He remains sixth in points, 52 markers out of the Top-Five.
Kraig Kinser is currently seventh in points on the strength of six Top-10 finishes, with Jac Haudenschild, who was victorious on Friday night at Paducah only 11 markers behind him in eighth, on the strength of five Top-10 finishes.
Paul McMahan is currently ninth in the standings on the strength of seven Top-10 finishes, with Tim Kaeding rounding out the Top-10, with five Top-10 runs.
