Dylan Thornton crowned Malvern Bank East Series Rookie of the Year
Dylan Thornton kicked off a three-race weekend on Thursday afternoon with a start in his Salty's BBQ & Catering No. 38T Modified for the opening round of the Darkside Promotions Fall Bash at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, Iowa).
Joining 49 IMCA Modifieds, Thornton backed up a runner-up heat showing with a ninth-to-second outing in the 25-lap feature. He joined race-winner Cody Laney and Zack Vanderbeek on the podium.
Aboard the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model the next two days at Adams County Speedway (Harlan, Iowa) for the Pumpkin Dash, Thornton recorded a sixth and third-place finish in his dual heat races scheduled for Friday.
On Saturday, Dylan advanced into the $6,000-to-win Malvern Bank Series finale with a third-place finish in his heat. Charging from the sixth row in the 30-lap affair, Thornton steered forward seven positions to register a fourth-place finish.
Saturday’s finish secured Thornton the Malvern Bank East Series Rookie of the Year honors. He rounded out the season in third in the final point standings.
