Cole Goes Three in a Row, Sauer & Myers Repeat, Newell Victorious as Hulsey’s Pick Up 3.

May 30, 2020, Tulsa, OK |. We had 152 entries on hand for weekly points racing at Port City Raceway on a warm Saturday night. After taking the week off for the T-Town Midget Showdown, Port City drivers proved that they were ready to be back to racing.

18 Jr Sprints signed in for competition.
Carter Sauer and Ryker Griggs would bring the field to the green flag with Sauer taking the early lead. A tight battle between Sauer, Lathe Griggs, Ryker Griggs and Brody McClelland would follow with several position changes. A caution at the half way would see Sauer leading, then McClelland and R Griggs. Splitting a lap car, McClelland takes the lead into turn 1 with 5 to go. He never looks back picking up the feature win. Sauer would finish second, R Griggs third, Bryce Kujath fourth and Ayden Parrish would round out the top 5.

After post race tech, the 87 of Brody McClelland was found to have an illegal motor, losing all accrued season points, as well as receiving a 2 week suspension. Carter Sauer was awarded the win.

Heat races would be won by Lathe Griggs, Sky Bartholomew, and Brody McClelland.

10 Masters signed in for competition

Larry Barnes and Tim Greene would bring the filed to green. Barnes would lead the first 4 laps before green and 5th place starting Harlan Hulsey would take over the lead on lap 5. Despite a late caution, Hulsey would be able to hold off 6th place starting Thad Bennett who would finish second with Scott Thompson, Tim Greene, and Tony Ogden rounding out the top 5.

Thad Bennett and Harlan Hulsey won heat races.

29 A class drivers signed in for competition

Jeffery Newell and Gage Laney would bring the 20 car field to green with Newell getting the early race lead. Three laps in, an intense battle would be halted by an early caution as Jake Rosario, from the 6th starting spot, would trade slide jobs with Newell for the race lead. Back to green, Newell would get a good jump but Rosario would stay steady with the leader. Lap 12 would see the red flag fly for Rosario who went for a wild ride into turn three. The restart would see Newell momentarily challenged by Cole Roberts but Newell would be able to pull away. The battle was on for the third spot featuring a battle between Laney, Greg Emeterio Jr and Conner Long. At the checkered, it would be Newell with the win, with Roberts, Emeterio, Long, and Ryker Pace rounding out the top 5.

Newell, Rosario, Pence, Lee, would pick up heat race wins, and Riley Goodno would win the nights B-Feature.

16 Restrictors where on hand for competition.

Kylee Young and Cooper Miller would bring the field to green with Young taking the early lead. Joshua Gentry and Kayden Cole would battle up to second and third as the early laps ticked away. Cole and Gentry would trade positions over the course of 4 laps before Cole would take over the lead position from Young. It would then be a battle for second between Young and Gentry. Within a few laps, Gentry would have the position and try to track down Cole. But as the checkers flew it would be Kayden Cole for 3 in a row with Gentry, Young, Beers, and Miller completing the Top 5.

Cole and Gentry would be victorious in heat race action.

38 Non-Wing drivers signed in for competition.

Ryan Cody and Ryan Mushrush would pace the field to green as Mushrush would lead lap number one. Mushrush would build a lead as Cody and Ty Hulsey would battle for the second spot with Ty Hulsey gaining the position in 3 laps. After a single car caution Hulsey would go to work on Mushrush with Mushrush losing a motor 2 laps later. Hulsey would build up a lead working the bottom methodically with Cody, Ryker Pace, Brock Berreth, and Curtis Jones rounding out the Top 5.

Hulsey, Lee, Pace, Pence and Rosario would win heat races, Hunter Fischer, and Isaac Barr would each win a B-Feature.

18 Sportsman signed in for competition

Randy Myers and Dwight Green would bring the field to green with recent feature winner Randy Myers leading the field early. Green would have his hands full as Bobby McIntosh would challenge for the second spot for 4 laps before finally gaining the position and then start to reel in race leader Myers at the half way point. With 3 laps left, the caution would fly for Larry Martinez who lost a motor down the front stretch collecting Dave Nicholson. On the restart McIntosh would challenge for the lead before troubles would bring the 08 to a stop atop turn 4. Randy Myers would go on to win with Green, Jeff Harris, Justin Simpson and Kaimron Schoonover rounding out the top 5.

Jeff Harris and Kaimron Schoonover would win heat races.

Outlaw a feature
Kj Snow and Caleb Pence would bring the field to life for the final feature of the night.
After a series of slide jobs and crossovers, Caleb Pence would lead lap number one. Pence would lead Snow as Delany Jost and Steven Curbow would race for the 3rd spot before Curbow would spin to a stop in turn 2. Back under way, Jost would challenge Snow for the runner up spot and one lap later take over the lead point. Plenty of side by side action inside the top 5 as Curtis Jones, Riley Goodno, and Ty Hulsey all trading positions as the laps ticked down. At the half way point Jones would be challenging for the lead before making contact with the infield tires in turn 1 and 2 bringing out the caution. With 16 laps down Hulsey would challenge for the race lead as Jost would start to slow down the back straight bringing out the caution. Back underway Hulsey would start to pull away from the field. As the checkered flag flew, it was Ty Hulsey with the win. Riley Goodno, KJ Snow, Baron Silva and Cole Roberts would round out the top 5.
