Destiny Motorsports and Craig Dollansky Close Debut Out With Top-10
PETERSEN MEDIA: Destiny Motorsports, and Craig Dollansky, chose the largest stage to make their debut together at, and they did not disappoint, and the new combination timed in well for the World Finals, before Dollansky closed the weekend out with a 10th place finish on Saturday night.
“We are all pleased with how things went our first night out, but like anything, we have some things to work at over the offseason,” Craig Dollansky explained.
During Thursday night’s qualifying sessions, Dollansky showed speed aboard the MonDak Portables/Aggressive Hydraulics/Karavan Trailers backed No. 7 machine as he timed in sixth fastest for the Friday program, before going 18th fastest during the Saturday session, putting him inside the heat race inversion both nights.
Friday night got off to a tough start for the Destiny Motorsports team as a throttle linkage issue forced them to retire early from heat race action, forcing them into the evening’s Last Chance Showdown.
Starting on the front row of the 12-lap event, the Elk River, MN driver got off to a great start as he led the early portions of the race before he began being pressured by Brad Sweet. Losing the top spot, Dollansky would run second, and earn a spot in the 30-lap feature event.
Lining up 11th, Dollansky got off to a nice start as he battled inside the Top-10 as he raced with Kody Swanson.
While battling for position on the 17th lap, Dollansky lost the handle on his machine, before blowing a tire on the 23rd lap, and ending up with a 19th place finish.
“We were a little off in the feature on Friday night, but with a new deal, things will happen, and everyone stayed positive, and we worked on it,” he said.
Storming to an exciting heat race win on Saturday night, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ earned a spot in the dash, where he would finish in the ninth spot, putting the Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction/Renegade Rentals backed No. 7 machine in the fifth row of the feature event.
On this night, Dollansky was able to make some early moves, as he found himself in the sixth spot when the caution flew on the eighth circuit.
Getting around Paul McMahan, on the 10th circuit, Dollansky entered the top-five, and began looking for more until the caution flew on the 13th circuit.
The restart did not go Dollansky’s way as he lost a few spots, but still kept his machine in the 10th spot, and closed his first weekend with Destiny Motorsports by scoring a Top-10.
“I really have to thank Rick and Barb Rogers for this opportunity,” he added. “We are all really excited about this deal, and this offseason we will get some things ironed out and be ready for 2015.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Aggressive Hydraulics, Karavan Trailers, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Renegade Rentals, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rens Trucking, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, Tony Stewart Racing, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2014.
