McMahan 7th at Jacksonville Speedway Before Up and Down Weekend at Eldora

PETERSEN MEDIA: Paul McMahan and the Destiny Motorsports team picked up a seventh place finish with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday night at the Jacksonville Speedway before a turbulent weekend at the Eldora Speedway.

“We had a good start to the week on Wednesday in Jacksonville, IL and then we struggled on Friday night,” McMahan said. “The guys kept at it and we had a nice run going on Saturday, but the driver made a mistake on the last lap and we tore up our racecar.”

Checking in at the Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, IL on Wednesday night along with 45 other entrants, McMahan laid down a nice lap in time trials aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine that saw him sixth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Following a third place finish in his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA native turned Nashville, TN driver would move into the 40-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the sixth row.

A very racy surface on the tight track would see cars use up every inch of real estate as they raced wheel to wheel. Working his way into the Top-10, McMahan McMahan would hook up in various with battles with the likes of Jamie Veal, Daryn Pittman, and Dusty Zomer.

Able to made headway during the duration of the race, McMahan would close his night out with a seventh place finish.

“I was pleased with how we ran at Jacksonville (IL), McMahan added. “We moved forward a little bit and had a car that could move around.”

Heading to the Eldora Speedway for two nights of action, McMahan’s weekend would get started off with him timing sixth fastest in his time trial flight. Finishing fourth in his heat race, McMahan would move directly into the 30-lap A main.

Gridding the field from the seventh row, McMahan seemed to have his hands full on this night as he couldn’t seem to get moving forward. Searching all around the track trying to make something happen, McMahan would fall back to finish in the 22nd spot.

Saturday night’s finale at the Eldora Speedway would see McMahan time his machine in 10th fastest during his qualifying flight. Finishing in the fifth and final transfer spot in his heat race, McMahan would move into the feature event though he would have his work cut out for himself from his 19th starting position.

On an extremely racy Eldora Speedway surface, McMahan showed early that he had a strong car as he worked his way forward during the duration of the race.

Working his way into the Top-10, McMahan ran 10th as the race came to a close. On the race’s final lap, McMahan would check up for a slower car, but as he did that his machine got up into the wall and would get upside down.

Able to climb from the wreckage uninjured, McMahan would ultimately be credited with a 17th place finish.

“It was good to redeem ourselves for the most part on Saturday night, but you hate to tear up equipment,” McMahan said. “We will go to work this week, and look to come out strong for two more races this weekend.”
