Hagar Victorious During USCS Event at Lexington 104 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – LEXINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2018) – Derek Hagar posted his fifth triumph of the season last Saturday during a USCS Series show at Lexington 104 Speedway.

Hagar opened the action by finishing third in the dash before maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race.

“We didn’t have too good of a pill draw and had a stacked heat race, but the door opened in turn one and I was able to get a couple of cars,” he said. “I had a good run on Terry Gray and was all over him, but didn’t have the opportunity to pass for second. It was all about finding clean air and it was a struggle so we settled for third.”

The heat race performance ranked Hagar third in overall points, which lined him up on the outside of the front row for the A Main after the No. 4 was drawn for the feature inversion.

“We got the jump on the start and led the whole deal,” he said. “It was a struggle in traffic, but we were able to get through clean and hold on to win the race. We never had any bids for the lead, but going through traffic you never know how close the guy is behind you.

“We haven’t got to race as much as we wanted to this year. We’ve had babies brought into the world and so we’ve needed to step back and make sure everything is taken care of on the home side. Now things are getting to where we can travel more. This weekend will be our first time in Missouri since last year.”

Hagar plans on joining the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com for the 9th annual LOS 360 Sprint Car Nationals this Saturday and Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.

“We’ve had really good finishes the last several times we’ve been out,” he said. “I’m real confident in the team and our motors and everything we have going on right now.”
