We are Racing !!!

Wentworth, NH- As Norman says Welcome to The Legion.... Well Mother Nature has been not too good to short track racing during the month of June. But Legion Speedway did open up with a risk of rain the last two weeks, we were able to get some racing in and give the racers some track time on the new surface. Drivers have said the track is not too bad for not being run in to much. We did hold one practice that was cut short by rain as well. With that being said Legion Speedway is available to hold track rental or practice nights. This will be limited and contact track for details.

Week one saw the Non Wing Sprint Cars, Outlaw Midgets, Modifieds and Pro 4 divisions. The race of the night was the Modifieds. The race fans seemed to be happy the mods are running 10 races at Legion this season. Walter Hammond in the Stewart Bean number 77 started on the outside pole and seemed to have a flawless race to take down the win. Walt was going to bring the trophy to the hospital the next morning where his car was staying for an illness, and everyone was very happy to hear that. Car counts were low in all divisions which was helpful to us as we still need to learn what to do on race night to have everything work out good. Finding people who want to work and help out at track has been real difficult and we are always looking for more. Donald Ottati won the Non Wing Sprint Car feature. David Bill with the Pro 4 win, and James Fitzgerald winning his first ever midget race.

Week Two was a great night and a full pit area with The Granite State Mini Sprints visiting the track for there first time in 2023. Also on hand were the Modifieds and the Modified Coupes, along with the Non Wing Sprint Cars. The heat races were some good side by side action. Some new modified drivers visited and seemed to like it. It was Todd Buckwold taking the win over Walt Hammond and TC Forward. The Coupes had a good field with great racing, and it Ricky Sanville taking the win over Cooper Hodge and Todd Haywood. The Granite State Mini Sprints were just as good as always with great racing and fast cars. In the 500 division it was Josh Wright picking up the win followed by Ella Gisleson and Rob Williams. The 600 division it was Chase Rodgers followed by Cody Willette and Jack Koponon. The Non Wing Sprint Cars saw Sam Comeau winning.

Please read the following. Most likely changes will be made to our schedule with moving divisions around. With low car counts and some things we don't like that are happening , along with shortage of track help, trying to get our scoring system up and running and more. We will be considering making some changes to make it fit our plan and goals for 2023. No decisions will be made without a discussion with drivers at drivers meeting weekly at each event if something is to change for the class they run. As stated before we don't mind the lower car counts as it helps us learn. We are doing this for something fun to do in retirement. I believe from the many great people who like what we have done and will continue to do, and their comments to us , they appreciate a fun and affordable night at the dirt track.

We will be having some ticket giveaways for the upcoming races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway the weekend of July 14th, 15th, and 16th. Along with some t shirts, and other great stuff, and of course our weekly bike giveaway for the kids. Stay tuned for more information on those things.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up at the track for our first two events and we hope to have some great fun Friday nights coming up this summer.

So like the Wentworth police say, Be Safe, Be Kind and Be Happy
