Tommy Tarlton Charges to Second With King of the West
PETERSEN MEDIA- One week after charging from 17th to fourth with the King of the West Series, Tommy Tarlton continued to his hard charging ways as he charged from 11th to second on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway.
“We had another really good car in the feature event, and the last lap got a little crazy with cars wrecking, but fortunately I was able to avoid it and we ended up second,” he said.
Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino No. 21 entry in 10th fastest, the Easton, CA driver went on to finish second in his heat race to Brent Kaeding.
Missing out on the Dash, Tarlton lined his machine up in the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event on the surface that was in excellent racing shape.
The start of the feature saw the race move at rapid pace, and Tarlton slowly picked up a few positions.
Following a lap 11 red flag, the track had became a little more slick, and Tommy seemed to get even better, as he cracked the Top-Five, as he chased after Shane Golobic and Kyle Hirst.
Racing in traffic, the duo battled hard, and on the white flag lap, chaos ensued, causing a wild finish.
White a lapped car spinning and causing drivers to take extreme measures, Tarlton was able to dodge the mess and cross the stripe in the second spot, capping off a hard fought night.
“The end of that race was wild,” Tarlton said. “Last week we ran here and a car spun out on the last lap as well, but it didn’t cause that kind of mess. I have to thank Paul Baines and all of the guys for working hard. We are having some fun, and this car is a pleasure to drive.”
Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, WFO Apparel, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.
ON TAP: Tarlton will take a couple of weeks off before returning to action on July 11th and 12th at the Ocean Speedway, as he will compete with the Civil War Series on Friday night, before taking on the KWS on Saturday night.
