For immediate release: USCS competition director, Paul Rondels has passed away (1964-2022)

Atlanta, Georgia – April 20, 2022 - This is the news you never want to receive, I am saddened to inform you that United Sprint Car Series competition director, Paul Rondel, 58, is currently from Hampton, Georgia, but originally from Christchurch, New Zealand passed away last night while in the hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand on a visit to his homeland. Our thoughts, prayers, and condolences are sincerely expressed to his immediate family and to his many friends on both continents that he touched with his life.

Paul Rondel was diagnosed with Stage Four Liver Cancer in November of 2020 and has battled the disease since that time while going through the many known treatments for Cancer. Even with his diagnosis, he continued on with his work as a paramedic in North Carolina, looking after the needs of others. He also continued to provide his valued service with the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour and the USCS 600 Sprint Car Series. He actually worked his last USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour event at Needmore Speedway on February 12, 2022, before complications from the Cancer became much worse..

All of those who worked with Paul and enjoyed his friendship over the six years of his involvement with the USCS several series were always impressed by his love for and dedication to motorsports most especially to sprint car racing. He was always a race fan first who evolved into a great race official, who enjoyed his work at the speedway and was excited about every event. He set a great example for others around him with his work ethic and adherence to detail. He will always and has already been greatly missed at the speedway

We would like to thank all of those racers, fans, and friends who help to make it possible for Paul Rondel to travel to New Zealand for the first time in sixteen years to see his Mother, Father, Sisters, and Brother. His Brother Michael was with him when he passed away and had cared for him during his entire time there.

His final arrangements have not been made at this time. As soon as any information is available it will be posted here and on the USCS Official website at www.uscsracing.com

Rest in Peace Paul Rondel
