Hartmann pushes off 2024 campaign with Farmington top-10 run

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) April 10, 2024 – After unfavorable weather conditions derailed their initial plans to start the 2024 campaign, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team ventured to the state of Missouri for back-to-back events at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo. on Friday, April 5 and Farmington Empire Speedway in Farmington, Mo. on Saturday, April 6 to fire off the team’s third full season of 410 Winged Sprint Car competition.

The team was slated to compete in the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA)-Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) doubleheader event at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6. However, uncooperative weather led to the cancellation of the event and sent Hartmann and the team seeking a Plan B racing option.

The 2024 lid lifter came at not only a new track for Hartmann, but also against the best drivers and teams in the Winged Sprint Car racing business as the Plymouth, Wis. competitor signed in for a NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Series event at US 36 Raceway.

With 41 cars on hand, Hartmann timed 21st in qualifying group A before starting 11th and moving up two spots to place ninth in his heat race. After starting on the pole of the C Main, Hartmann finished fourth to miss transferring to the Last Chance Showdown by two positions.

The 87A Hartmann Racing team moved on to Farmington Empire Speedway on Saturday, April 6 for a weekly 410 Sprint Car program, which featured a 24-car field.

After drawing the pole position, Hartmann placed second in the first 10-lap heat race. He then lined up fifth in the 25-lap A main and came home with a seventh-place finish to secure the eighth top-10 A-main showing of his 410 Sprint Car career.

“It was a hell of a weekend,” Hartmann said. “Not much went our way, from engine problems on Friday night to truck problems on Saturday morning. After dealing with those issues, it was good to finish the weekend with a top-10 finish at Farmington.

“With adding Ian Schultz to the team this year, along with Eric Bergschultz and myself, we’ve been gelling quick as a crew and looking forward to getting the IRA started,” he said.

The 87A Hartmann Racing Team will hold a brat fry fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 at Holler n Hills, located at 5837 South Business Drive in Sheboygan, Wis., starting at 11 a.m. with food and raffles available all day.

The team is scheduled to open its third full-time season of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series competition on Friday, April 19 with the IRA Spring Sizzler Presented by Kickass Beef Jerky at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis.

Also on the card are Modifieds, USRA B Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5:30 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6:45 p.m., IRA qualifying at 7 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 7:15 p.m.

The following night, the team will compete in the IRA Spring Trifecta at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. with pit gates open at 2:30 p.m. and spectator gates opening at 3:30 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m.

The Dirt Kings Late Model Series and Badger Midgets will join the Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Car Series for the three-division program.

All Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association events will be streamed live on FloRacing.
