Thiel Pulls Off a Top 10

Scotty Thiel and the STM #64 Sprint Car Team pulled into the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds on September 10th for the second last night of PDTR Sprint car action. Thiel pulled a 45 pill which set him to start shotgun on the field in the third heat race event. At the drop of the green, Scotty used the low line to pass several cars and within a few laps was sitting in the fourth position. The heat race would go green to checkered and Thiel finished in the fourth position and earning a 12th place starting spot in the night's 25 lap A-Main event.

It was a tricky track for the A-Main event. The field went green and Thiel began to work the low line again. Everyone was down on the bottom so Scotty decided to jump up on the high side and see what he could do. He made a few passes but around the half way mark, he jumped the cushion and felt something break. The car was getting on the right rear and Scotty just drove it harder to make the car get around the corner. It was a struggling 10 laps or so but Scotty managed to take home a 9th place finish. As soon and Thiel was back in the pits, the crew checked to see what had happened. They discovered that when Scotty jumped the cushion the one lap, it broke the jacob's ladder, which holds the rear end in place. That made it very difficult for Thiel to get any momentum to pass any more cars.

Overall, it was an alright weekend. It was a bummer that the ladder broke but it is racing after all. STM would like to thank all of their great marketing partners for the 2011 season:
