Thiel goes wire-to-wire with IRA at Sycamore

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (May 9, 2022) - The “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Sheboygan, Wisconsin’s Team 73 have been basically unstoppable in IRA Outlaw Sprint Series competition thus far in 2022, earning their second Series victory in as many tries during a visit to Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois, on Saturday, May 7. Impressive enough, Thiel’s victory occurred in wire-to-wire fashion, also for the second time in as many tries.

The first sprint car appearance at Sycamore in nearly 40 years, Thiel, ace of the Gibbsville Cheese, Walkers Game Ear, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Stealth Cam, Muddy Outdoors, Complete Water Inc, KSI Supply, GRP Motorsports, Racers Hall, No. 73 sprint car, was a force right off the tailgate, kicking things off with the fastest qualifying time, followed by a fourth-place finish during his respective heat race. The recent Beaver Dam winner would go on to score a dash victory, which ultimately resulted in his wire-to-wire performance in the evening’s feature.

The IRA victory earned Thiel a $3,000 payday. There were 26 cars on hand for the sprint car return to Sycamore.

“That was fun,” Thiel said, who is currently on top of the IRA Outlaw Sprint Series standings with two wins in two starts. “I can’t say enough about this team. We click well together and we’re able to make great decisions, and it shows. We still have some things we need to work on or improve on, but overall, I’m happy with how we are operating and I’m excited to see what we can do this weekend.”
