Thiel becoming comfortable at Knoxville; Lake Ozark All Star doubleheader ahead
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (July 18, 2022) - The “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel and Team 73 put together a sound effort at the Sprint Car Capital of the World on Saturday night, making the long tow to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, to earn valuable lap time for the coveted Knoxville Nationals in mid-August.
Thiel, driver of the Gibbsville Cheese, Walkers Game Ear, Professional Plating Inc, Scott Thiel Builders, Stealth Cam, Muddy Outdoors, Complete Water Inc, KSI Supply, GRP Motorsports, Racers Hall, Triple X Chassis, K1 Race Gear, HRP, King Racing Products, Keizer Wheels, No. 73 sprint car, finished seventh in his Knoxville Raceway appearance, advancing one spot after starting eighth on the grid. In fact, Thiel battled in the sixth spot for much of the 20-lapper, but a lapped car halted Thiel’s momentum and cost him a position.
The Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native kicked-off Knoxville’s program with the ninth-fastest time during qualifying time trials, driving on to finish fourth in his respective heat race.
“We are starting to become more and more comfortable at Knoxville, and that’s going to be important when we head to the Nationals in August. It's an event everyone has circled and we want to be in the big dance on Saturday night,” Thiel explained. “We’ll regroup this week and prepare for a full weekend of All Star action in Missouri. We’re excited to get to Lake Ozark.”
