ENGLISH CREEK FRIDAY 5/14 - 24 KARTS
The night started off with qualifying where KC went out mid pack and set a lap of 13.056 which was good for 10th quick on the field of 24 drivers. Niki Ballard was again your quick time winner with a 12.569 second lap.
Three heat races were set from qualifying with KC running heat one where he finished third, qualifying directly to the A Feature. Heat winners were Ballard, Tommy Tanner, and Taver West.
KC lined up 7th for the feature event and was prepared to use patience as the pack sorted itself out. He didn’t get the opportunity to see what the set up would do as he was driven into as he entered turn three on the opening lap where the other driver continued in the gas until KC’s wheels dug in and he flipped over, retiring him 14th from the event.
A total of five drivers were parked on the infield before the first green flag lap was logged. When the checkers fell, it was Taver West picking up his first ever BP feature win.
MISSISSIPPI THUNDER SPEEDWAY 5/15 - 12 KARTS
The track crew was in a race against the threatening weather Saturday night for Blasel/Finnegan sponsored night for the Jr. Wing class where 12 drivers registered for competition.
The double heat format split the field into two sets with heat race wins going to Miken Iverson, Blaine Iverson, Miken Iverson again, and Maddie Hale.
The feature was paced to the green by Miken Iverson with Autumn Frandsen to the outside. Sierra Rose Gary and KC Sparks made up row two. From the drop of the green, Miken Iverson was on the throttle hard and jumped out to the lead over Frandsen. Sparks joined the top duo in a three kart break away until the caution flew and bunched up the field. On the restart, Sparks challenged Frandsen but was unable to take the position. When the checkers flew, Miken Iverson completed the sweep and picked up the feature win. Frandsen was second ahead of Sparks, Gary and the hard charger, Abbygale Blasel.
SIZZLIN SUMMER SERIES 5/16 - 13 KARTS
Thirteen drivers drew into the heat races for Sunday’s show at Cedar Lake Indoor Arena. Heat winners were Ryley Finnegan, Amelia Eisenschenk, Connor Bruss, and Laela Eisenschenk.
Using the two heat format with passing points, Finnegan sat on the pole for the feature event. He jumped out to the lead while the pack went three wide battling for position on the track. Laela Eisenschenk used the lowest line on the track to drive to the inside of Bruss and Amelia to move from her fifth starting position into second. Sparks moved into fourth for the first few circuits. While the top half of the field jockeyed for position, Finnegan led the pack.
The Eisenschenk duo ran second and third and found a strip of rubber on the track first and used it to close in on Finnegan and overtake the top spot. Tylar Alton was the fastest kart on the track with the only lap under 11 seconds in the event, but struggled to get the track position. Running in fourth, he spun while challenging for the podium. Sparks was shuffled back to seventh with Cade Nelson moving ahead but following the Alton spin, was into the top six.
Laela Eisenschenk went on to take the checkers for the first point event of the series with Amelia runner up. Bruss moved onto the podium position coming to the white flag with Finnegan holding on for fourth and Nelson in the top five. Sparks just edged out Alton for sixth.
