ASCS Gulf South Hits Waco and Kilgore This Weekend
TULSA, Okla. (June 23, 2015) The Southern Trailer Works ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Griffith Truck and Equipment returns to action this weekend with the season’s third attempt at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco and only trip of 2015 to the Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore.
With weather keeping races at the Heart O’ Texas to a single night so far, Ray Allen Kulhanek parked in Victory Lane for the first time in 2015 on May 22. Looking to Friday, June 26, the Waco oval will look to see if Ray can back up his win, and continue to climb the season standings as the five time champion currently sits fourth, 59 points back from leader, Scottie McDonald.
McDonald’s single season victory, coupled with three top-fives’s and top-ten runs in every show so far is still not enough to stretch his lead as Kevin Ramey trails by a slim 10 markers. Michael McNeil currently holds the final podium step in driver standings, 50 points back from McDonald.
The one and only time fans will get to see the ASCS Gulf South Region at the Lone Star Speedway on Saturday, June 27, the last regional visit to the high-banked oval was washed out on October 11, 2014 with the ASCS Lone Star Region.
Friday, June 26 at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway will see a full lineup of classes with IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Jr. Minis in addition to the ASCS Gulf South Region.
