Dillon Brown Gets Victory in a Wild One at Laurens

The AAS made it's long trip to South Carolina Saturday as we took on Laurens County Speedway for the first time ever! The track nicknamed the Darlington of Dirt lived up to those expectations at twenty cars signed in for battle in The Straight Street Youth Center Race Presented by Aiken Ridge Land Worx.

Dillon Brown, one of the few drivers with 604 experience at the track used that to his advantage in BHR Fabrication Qualifying setting fast time at a 15.221. Zach Sise went second quick at a 15.324 while older brother Trevor turned a time of 15.449. Ricky McClain in his first AAS start went fourth fast with a time of 15.540 and Hayden Cardwell would round out the top five with a time of 15.554.

The ATC Bolts & Fasteners Dash went to Zach Sise over Dillon Brown and Ricky McClain. Randy's Pine Straw added $100 to the winner of each of the two heat races for the night. Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet Heat One went to Baillie Lowe over Joshua Bishop and Teddy Musgrave. Outside Groove Heat Two was won by the young gun Luke Cooper over Colby Quick and series points leader AJ Hicks.

With the prelims done for the night, we took a quick intermission where Randy's Pine Straw worked together with other area businesses and Presented Straight Street Youth Center with a nice donation.

The field was then set for the fifty-lap five thousand dollar to win affair. The top side seemed to fire better all night and that was advantage to Brown on the initial start as he took off with the lead. An early green flag run saw Brown catching the back of the field before Ricky Greene's car was running hot and brought out an early caution. Green flag racing resumed and though Brown jumped out front a hornets nest is the best way to describe the battling the rest of the way through the field. Competitors were battling hard working their way forwards. Trevor Sise would bring out a caution as he lost power steering. He stayed on the track afterwards and battled to continue to gain some points. A few more cautions took place through the event ending some drivers nights early. Dillon Brown would go on to lead all 50 laps and grab the victory in the series first trip to the track. Ricky McClain would grab second in his first series start with Luke Cooper taking third. Baillie Lowe who had a flat early in the feature fought back to finish fourth and Joshua Chesney who was missing most of the body panels on the front part of his car would be credited with fifth. AJ Hicks took sixth by just surviving all night long and Ryan Smith would take seventh after starting shotgun on the field due a flat in the heat. Owen Osteen, Joshua Bishop, and Hayden Cardwell who had been collected in a late incident would round out the top ten.

The AAS would like to thank Chris and his whole staff for the great hospitality and Laurens! We'd like to thank the huge crowd for showing up to support the event as well!
