Bill Balog
Another Strong Run at Knoxville
Union Grove, WI – May 8, 2012. Bill Balog and the B2 Motorsports team loaded up and headed back to Knoxville Raceway for the second week in a row, this time for a weekly show. The night started out with a qualifying lap of 15.541 seconds which would be good enough for the 8th fastest car of the 30 cars on hand. Bill lined up in the fourth starting position in the second heat race. Battling with a tight racecar throughout the heat race, Bill would finish where he started in the 4th position behind Dusty Zomer, Rager Phillips, and Josh Schneiderman. With an invert draw of 12 pulled by fast qualifier Davey Heskin, Bill would start the feature in the 6th position. At the drop of the green, Bill would move up to the 4th position behind Interstate Racing Association competitor Mike Reinke. About the midway point Bill would be passed by Terry McCarl and the two battled for several laps before the caution flag came out for a wild flip in turn 3. On the restart Bill had a run on Reinke and McCarl going into turn one, but would not be able to make it stick coming out of turn two allowing Reinke, McCarl, Danny Lasoski, and Mark Dobmeier to get by dropping him to the 7th position. Bill would race hard with Dobmeier for several laps, but finally got by him for good and began to real in both Reinke and McCarl as the laps wound down. Bill would have momentum coming through turns three and four, but as the checkers flew Bill would finish in the 6th position.
This week Saturday May 12th, Bill and the B2 Motorsports 17B Sprint car will return to action with the Interstate Racing Association at the 1/3 Mile Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI. The following weekend on Saturday May 19th, the Bill and the IRA will compete at the 1/3 track of Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, WI.
