Wilson Nabs Several Stout Results and Jason Johnson Sportsman of the Year Award in 2018

Inside Line Promotions – BENTON RIDGE, Ohio (Nov. 20, 2018) – Greg Wilson recently completed his third straight season as a full-time competitor with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Alloy Wheels backed team placed 13th in the championship standings and Wilson was named the inaugural Jason Johnson Sportsman of the Year Award winner.
“What a special award to be honored with,” he said. “That meant a lot, especially to have Jason Johnson’s name attached to it. It was definitely a tough year in sprint car racing. Jason is missed and we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to race wheel to wheel with him.”
In addition to the award, Wilson posted five top fives to lead the way this season. His best result was a second-place showing – after starting 14th – at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio. Wilson added a second podium finish at Eldora Speedway – after starting 23rd – and another third-place showing during a 360ci winged sprint car event at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Other top fives include a run from 13th to fourth at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., and a charge from 17th to fifth at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws World Finals.
“The common theme for almost all of those nights was that we moved forward a lot,” he said. “I think those were tracks where it slicked off and got technical and put it in the drivers’ hands. Those races are all building blocks and our focus for the future is to record those type of results on a regular basis.”
Wilson added a few Hard Charger Awards and some top 10s during prestigious events, including the Brad Doty Classic and Gettysburg Clash to name a couple.
Wilson also recently announced that Hercules Tires will be returning as a primary sponsor and that his 2019 schedule will be different than the last three years when he’s been a full-time competitor on the World of Outlaws circuit.
“It’s an honor to work with such a great company like Hercules Tires,” he said. “We appreciate the relationship with the employees and dealers. When you’re involved with good people and awesome products it makes our job a lot easier.
“I want to thank all of our marketing partners, my family and crew for the support. It’s very challenging to complete a full season on the Outlaws tour so that’s a great accomplishment for our team to have done that each of the last three years. We’re looking forward to what next year holds.”
