WESTERN STATES MIDGETS TAKE ON BAKERSFIELD NOVEMBER 19
Despite finishing second to Robby Josett in Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway, Ronnie Gardner took a giant step toward wrapping up a fourth consecutive USAC Western States Midget crown. He emerged from Saturday’s race with a 121-point lead over runner-up Michael Faccinto, who was fifth Saturday.
Josett, of Santa Clarita, Calif., led all 30 laps of Saturday night’s tune-up for the Nov. 24 “Turkey Night Grand Prix.” Josett was trailed by Gardner, Cory Elliott, Cody Swanson and Faccinto. Josett piloted his RL & Sons Construction/Justice Brothers Spike/Esslinger.
Josett’s victory was his first in the USAC Western States Midget series since a 2010 win at Calistoga (Calif.) Speedway. Three of those four career victories, however, have come at Ventura.
The series resumes November 19 at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway and concludes with the 98-lap “Turkey Night Grand Prix” at Ventura November 24.
