26 Promotions – Tucson, AZ – (September 19, 2019) – Cody Cambensy has been red hot as of late and looked to keep the momentum going as the Thunder Trucks returned to Tucson Speedway for two 25-lap feature events.

The weekend kicked off with a sight adjustment period following a run in Las Vegas with the Late Model Truck Series, but it didn't take long for Cambensy to get back in the groove and find himself atop the speed charts.

“We ran three laps in practice and the truck was a rocket and we went to the top of the speed charts on old tires,” said Cambensy. “We went out to qualify and the truck bottomed out really hard and almost put us in the wall. We qualified fifth and tore a hole in the oil pan. Joe and Terry got to work quickly draining the oil and JB Welding it while Brandon Farrington and I got to work to see what happened with the setup.”

With the oil pan repaired and adjustments made, Cambensy lined up on the outside of the front row for the start of the first feature event.

“We were able to get out to a lead and lead every lap for our fourth win in a row and fifth of the season,” he said. “I was pretty pumped considering we were scrambling just to get the truck back going. It was a lot of teamwork to get us back out.”

With one feature win in the books, Cambensy headed back out for the second 25-lap feature where he would start from the outside of the fifth row following the invert.

“On the first lap we were three-wide, and another truck decided to make it four-wide putting all of us into the wall before we could get the first lap completed,” explained Cambensy. “We were pretty torn up with a flat tire. I got to the pits where the crew started ripping the front fenders, hood, and nose off the truck to get us back out. They duct-taped the radiator in, and we restarted 15th.”

From there Cambensy was able to battle up through the field for a seventh-place finish.

“It was an up and down night all around. It started out rough and ended rough. It really shows how great of a team we have to get things turned around as they did,” he said. “I can’t thank Brandon, Joe, Terry, and the rest of TMI for the hard work. We will get it all back together and chase some more wins with two races left. But to have four wins in a row and five on the season is amazing!”

Cody Cambensy would like to thank Dustin Ash Motorsports, Brandon Farrington, Josh Hitchiner, Terry Sukalski, Temperature Control, Davis Motorsports, Grace Boutique, Wells Johnson, Port of Tucson, Lawley Chevrolet, K1 RaceGear, Fiveone Media, and AZ Litho for their support.
