Next in line is an old derby driver who has turned to the local divisions in oval, asphalt racing from St. Charles, MI. Adam Whitaker is now behind the wheel of the number 23 Front Wheel Drive car. He has been racing since 2006, for a total of 17 years in motorsports. He has a 2006 Figure 8 championship and his first FWD feature win from 2022 to show for his achievements.

Growing up, his dad, uncle, and brother were all big fans of racing. According to Adam, "there ain't been a year without a car in the yard." His dad, Leroy, was a huge help in his racing career and taught him everything he knows. For that, Adam is extremely grateful. Racing is both frustrating and rewarding, and for Adam, it's all about putting on a great show for the crowd. He loves autograph nights and seeing everyone's excitement to be face to face with the drivers while obtaining autographs.

His favorite track to race at is Owosso Speedway because it is a local and fast track that allows for 3-wide racing. Adam's family has always raced at this track, and his great-great uncle even helped build it before it was asphalt and all dirt. In his off-season, Adam enjoys hunting, fishing, and working on cars and ATVs.

Adam knows Jeff and has heard great things about Rex, and he's excited to see the track improve and become the number one destination in Michigan. Owosso Speedway holds many great memories for Adam and his family and will continue to do so in the future. Adam's Uncle George Harris was the "burnout king" at Owosso Speedway after winning many fan-favorite hot dog races. Adam is excited to see the George Harris Memorial Hot Dog races start again.

Adam's mom, Sandra, and dad, Leroy, have always supported him since he started his career in racing, along with his pit crew consisting of his brother, also named Leroy, and his cousins, Simon Watters, and Elwood Watters. He also has several sponsors including Muffler Man, Town Country Auto Salvage, Jim's Recycling, Steven & Liz, Kustom Kolors, and Kirby's Auto Body.

We can't wait for the start of the 2023 season to watch local drivers like Adam Whitaker get back to Owosso Speedway, a track that has been a staple in many racing careers since 1939.
