Morgan McDonald Wins First Ever Feature, Rehill, D. Alcock Take Second Wins

Racing resumed at Lake of the Woods Speedway with the Boisjoli Memorial all set for the WISSOTA Pure Stocks. WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and HD Contracting Enterprises 4-Cylinders were also on hand.

In heat one of the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Stan Dueck started at the back and claimed the win after a great multi lap side by side battle with Jake Mazur. Kaden Labute rounded out the top three. In heat two, Morgan McDonald made a last lap pass on sibling Logan to claim the win. Michael Copp finished third. Jesse Pederson would have something catastrophic happen to his engine during his heat as well and was unable to continue the rest of the evening.

The feature race had its share of thrills and spills. Darrin Rea started on the pole and led the first couple laps. As they went three wide into the first two turns, Jake Mazur spun at the back, collecting Roger Boisjoli, leading to a caution. On the next restart, Morgan McDonald decided to make it four wide as the six cars in front of him battled it out. Another caution came out involving Logan McDonald and Kaden Labute. McDonald ended up over top the track. On the ensuing restart, Morgan continued to lead while the field itself started to shrink. Engine expiration of Dueck, damage to Bryson McDonald, as well Brodie Mcgowan getting a flat after falling off the track all made the final five cars to compete on their own. Morgan would not see another challenger and claim his first ever feature win! Copp and Mazur would round out the top three.

There were nine cars in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds heat race. Several battles raged on throughout the ten laps with Nick Hooper, Christopher Leek, Nick Audette, and Brandon Rehill all taking the lead at some point. But in the end, it was the high flying 4B of Rehill that would take the win on the last lap over Hooper and Audette.

The feature went green to checkered as Leek took the lead on lap two on the outside from the fourth position. Rehill quickly followed behind with a six car gap on the leader. While Rehill looked to be slowly closing in, Leek missed his mark coming into turn three and fell off the top side briefly. Opening the door, Rehill took full advantage and made the pass out of four. Leek quickly gathered it back up and recovered into second. As the race went on, the battle for third was side by side for much of the middle frame, with Audette and Bell running different lines. Bell eventually secured the spot with only a couple laps to go. Rehill would not be challenged for the rest of the race claiming his second win in 2024 at the speedway.

The HD Contracting Enterprises 4-Cylinders were split into two heats. In heat one, Dustin Alcock took the lead on lap three and dominated it. Madoc Mulholland claimed second, holding off his sibling, Kamea who rounded out third. In the second heat, rookie Derek Poirier claimed the win over rookies Erin Watt and Katelynne Mazur-Defoort.

Kamea Mulholland captured the early lead in the feature with Dustin Alcock right behind. Alcock tried to find a way on the bottom of the track, but the door continued to be shut. Moving up a lane, he gained speed coming into turn one and two getting up beside the leader. Madoc wasn’t too far behind but couldn’t gain enough ground. One more push and Alcock was able to take the lead from the outside lane. He would then pull away for his second win of the season!

Thank you to everyone who makes racing happen at Lake of the Woods Speedway!
