Inside Line Promotions – SPENCER, Iowa (Nov. 7, 2019) – Veteran sprint car driver Justin Henderson and car owner Mike Sandvig joined forces to win races and build a race team that could be competitive for multiple years.

The duo primarily focused on weekly 410ci winged sprint car competition at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this year and while they narrowly missed out on a victory, they did manage a season-best second-place result in July en route to a fifth-place finish in the championship standings.

Henderson and Sandvig scored two top-five finishes, five top 10s and one heat race win at ‘The Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

They also attempted to qualify for the coveted A Main during the 59th annual Knoxville Nationals in August, when they made the main event during the Hard Knox Night and ended in the C Main during the Saturday night finale.

“It wasn’t what we wanted in the fact that we didn’t find Victory Lane, but it was a successful year at Knoxville in many ways,” Henderson said. “We found a nice baseline around midseason and it’s going to make us a lot better next year.”

While they focused primarily on weekly competition at the half-mile oval, the team also ventured to various tracks in Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Highlights included several races with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and leading 26 laps during an IRA Bumper to Bumper 410 Sprint Cars feature – the 18th annual Jerry Richert Memorial hosted by Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. They also picked up a fifth-place finish with the IRA Series during the Casey’s General Stores Open Wheel Nationals at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., in September.

“That stretch there was when things were really a lot of fun and it seemed every time we pulled into a track we had a shot,” Henderson said. “I wish it had been that way all year, but sometimes good things take a while to work.”

The team also attempted several 360ci winged sprint car races together, highlighted by a second-place finish on their first night out together at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., in April and a top-10 result during the Short Track Nationals at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., in October.

Henderson and Sandvig are planning a similar schedule for the 2020 racing season, while hoping to venture into Central Pennsylvania on several occasions for some of the bigger paying shows.

“Justin has raced in Pennsylvania enough that I feel confident that we can go out there and contend,” Sandvig said. “The goal is to get out there early and build a notebook. That way later in the year we can come back and be prepared and hopefully contend in some of these big shows.”

That plan is contingent on additional marketing partners coming on board. Both Henderson and Sandvig are seeking new partners to add to their current supporters for the 2020 season. Anyone interested can reach out to Mike Sandvig at 712-260-8823.

“We have a lot of great partners and I can’t thank all of them enough for helping make our 2019 season a success,” Sandvig said. “I feel we have great equipment and a great driver that any sponsor would be proud to have represent them. We’re looking forward to 2020 and we would love to bring some new faces to the table as well to make this an even better year.”

Henderson added that he believes competing in Pennsylvania early in the season will pay dividends to their program for all of 2020.

“There are a lot of great race tracks in Central PA and they start a little earlier than most so it’ll be nice to shake things down against a great field of drivers,” he said. “If we can compete there we can compete anywhere. And knowing what to do come the end of the year when there is a lot of money up for grabs will be huge in our development and success.”
