BShep scores second-place finish in Corn State Nationals at Davenport
With remnants of Hurricane Francine wiping out his weekend with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series, Brandon Sheppard unloaded his Dude Wipes No. B5 Late Model at Brownstown Bullring (Brownstown, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for the MARS Late Model Championship Series-sanctioned Brownstown 100.
Lined up fifth for the $10,000-to-win A-Main via a runner-up finish in his heat, Sheppard steered to a consistent fifth-place finish in the 50-lapper.
Joining the Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) on Saturday, Brandon trekked to Davenport (IA) Speedway for the second round of the Corn State Nationals. Against a stout field of 35 MLRA entries, Sheppard raced his way into the weekend finale with a heat race victory. With $10,000 top prize up for grabs, Brandon muscled forward two spots to register a second-place finish. He trailed race-winner Garrett Alberson across the line with Tyler Bruening coming in third.
