Jamie Ball- 305 Test Night
Jamie Ball- 305 Test Night
(White Lightning Motorsports) – July 10, 2010 –
This week would see the Delta Oil #5J race on Saturday July 3, 2010 at the Knoxville Raceway. Our teams 305 engine was still getting ready to race so once again we only raced our 360 sprint car.
Last week I blew up my 360 engine in the first of two 360 a main events at the Knoxville Raceway. The blown engine was bad enough that we weren’t able to get it fixed during the week. This would leave us no other option but to run our 305 engine in the 360 class to get show up points to keep in contention for 2010 Rookie of the Year Award. The night would start off with running a 17.013 in time trials. That is pretty good considering the fastest 360 sprint car turned a 16.093. So we were only less than a second off a 360, which has approximately 150 horsepower more than my 305. This week would serve merely as a test session for our 305 sprint car to get it ready for the following weekend. I would start last in both the heat and b feature and finish last. We were just out there trying new things out with the gearing and the wing angle. Overall the night went well and we learned a few things.
