FREMONT, Ohio – Though slightly better results at Fremont Speedway have told the tale of 2015 for Cap Henry, his statistics at Attica Raceway Park are nothing to be ashamed of. On Friday night, the Bellevue, Ohio native bolstered his stat line at the latter, earning his second win of the year and fourth career at the speedway, and his third of the year in FAST Series competition.

Henry put on likely his most dominant performance of the season on Friday. His 12.606-second lap in qualifying, though fourth-fastest overall, was the fastest in his heat race group. After entering the track for that heat, Henry would not leave the track without a win for the rest of the night. From fourth on the grid, he moved his way to the lead on lap five, taking the eight-lap affair by a margin of 2.105 seconds.

The earlier efforts earned him the pole position for the 30-lap feature. Gaining the advantage over second-starting Nate Dussel when the green dropped, Henry was slowed only by a lone caution on lap five. Dean Jacobs, coming from outside row three, quickly picked his way through the field to take second on lap 12, but Henry maneuvered just out of his reach through lapped traffic. One eye of Henry fans remained on FAST point leader Byron Reed, hoping the No. 53 team could gain ground on the lead. Henry nabbed the checkered in the race, chipping away at fourth-finishing Reed’s advantage.

Henry appeared quite poised for another great run at Fremont on Saturday, looking to cash in for repeat FAST wins as he did in mid-May. 12.898 seconds to traverse the popular Ohio oval in qualifying put him third-fastest in his group and ninth overall. Starting fourth, Henry again made his way to the top spot in the eight-lap heat, narrowly fending off Jacobs to take the win.

Just missing out on the dash, Henry rolled off from eighth for the night’s main event. Disaster struck early, and power steering trouble sent the Genzman Racing Enterprises entry spinning around with three laps complete. Driving from the tail of the field with 27 to go, Henry didn’t count himself out. A gradual climb back up the running order saw the driver take over the 15th spot by halfway, and culminating with a pass for 10th on the final circuit to close out the event.

The troubles affected Henry’s point totals in both FAST and Fremont standings. With just one doubleheader weekend remaining for FAST, Henry sits second, trailing Byron Reed by 48 points. At Fremont, Henry faces an 11-point deficit to Reed, and at Attica, Henry is in fourth place, 90 points behind Dean Jacobs, as the season winds down at both facilities.

Henry would like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family, the Genzman team, and all of his great fans for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on August 7 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and on August 8 at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, both in the Genzman Racing Enterprises No. 53 410ci winged sprint entry.
