CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Preparing to compete full-time with the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2016, Bellevue, Ohio racer Cap Henry quickly hit his stride on Saturday. At Chillicothe, Ohio’s Atomic Speedway, the standout sprint car driver raced his way to a second-place finish in the Ohio Sprint Car Series’ maiden race.

Starting the night off with group qualifying, Henry timed in third-quick in the final of four heat race groups. The top-four inversion lined him up for heat action from the outside front row. Henry took to the point on the start, fending off a late challenge to secure the victory in the eight-lap race.

With the top two finishers in each heat re-drawing for feature starting position, Henry luckily grabbed the “2” to again start outside the front row for the 30-lap main event. Battling early with Ohio legend Jac Haudenschild, the duo traded the top spot several times in the first five laps before Henry was able to begin to build a lead working the low side of the 3/8-mile oval. Soon, rising NASCAR star Christopher Bell surpassed Haudenschild for the second spot and had set his sights on reeling in Henry’s Coomer Motorsports No. 21. As Henry began negotiating slower traffic on lap 13, Bell quickly closed the gap in clean air. Henry surrendered the lead on the 16th circuit, but Henry wasn’t going away. The pair continued to battle feverishly and traded the lead numerous times in the next five laps. Just as Henry had taken command and started to pull back away, the race’s lone stoppage came with 24 laps complete. After the red flag period, six laps would settle the score. Henry’s attempt to hold off the charging Bell proved unsuccessful, and would bring the Kistler-powered Maxim home with a second-place showing.

Henry would like to thank Aesthetic Finishers, Armor Coat, Cerakote, Best Bite Grill, Printworks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Wings Unlimited, Diversified Machine Inc, Kistler Racing Engines, Jon Coomer Financial Services, and Kinsler Fuel Injection, as well as his family, fans, and the Coomer Motorsports team for their continued support.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on April 2 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio with the All Star Circuit of Champions in the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 410ci winged sprint entry.
