SAPULPA, Okla. (May 18, 2015) Things did not go as planned for Blake Hahn this past weekend with the ASCS Red River Region.

Things were looking up with a break in the weather, putting the team in Lubbock, Texas on Friday night, but the Pits is where the No. 52 would sit most of the evening.

Starting with Hot Laps, an engine misfire put the crew to work swapping out parts of the MSD system. “We started with plugs and wires, and it seemed to clear up but it started missing again in the Heat Race. We went ahead and swapped out the MSD Box after that.”

Unfortunately, Hahn wasn’t able to check if his car would run a peak performance in the feature as the No. 52 refused to stay running.

“It would start, and then die. When we got it back to the pits, we found the Power Steering/Fuel Pump assembly was stripped out going into the back of the Cam Shaft so it was starving the engine for fuel. I think that was our main problem with the car not running, but this is why we try to run as many shows as we can when we’re not running a National Tour race, that way we are able to find the bugs without it costing us at the end of the year. It still sucks not to be able to perform, but it is what it is.”

Heading to Lawton Speedway the following night, Mother Nature had her way with the Oklahoma oval, ending events before they could get going.

“We were glad to get out of there when we did because it got us ahead of the storms going into Tulsa. I really wanted to get that race in to see how the car was going to run, and the fact that Lawton is one of my favorite tracks.”

Looking forward to Memorial Day Weekend, Blake is still not sure where the Lucas Oil / CSR Garage No. 52 will land as the team watches the weekend forecast.

“Gulf South has three nights, Red River has two, and they both pay good so it just depends on what the weather looks like. If those don’t look like they’ll happen, we may head to Knoxville to get some more laps.”
