Hodges Motorsports Update - Devil's Bowl Speedway
We are heading home now the day after some good racing down at Devil's Bowl in Mesquite, TX. After a disapointing first night, we looked to improve. I drew pill #4 to get us off to a good start, and once again we had some good speed in the hot lap session. When we went to push off to start pole of the third heat race, it would not start, and we found we left a line capped after making some fueling changes. That set us starting last in the 3rd B. By now the track was slick and dusty with one good lane coming off the corner in turns in and 2 and there was a good cushion as well as a bottom through 3 and 4. I got a decent start and passed 1 or 2 cars the first corner, and on lap 2, I passed another 2 or 3 off the bottom of turn 2. The car was working good, and I eventually made it up to about 5th or 6th, when I spun trying to make ground for the transfer position. I went to the back and there was only a few laps left after that to try and move forward. Although we didn't have the finished we liked, we finally had good speed in the car at the end, and I adjusted to the National competition and got better driving, too. A big thanks to Gary Taylor once again for his help this weekend. We'll be off to Canyon Speedway this upcoming weekend, racing winged with the ASCS Southwest on Friday night, and non-wing with the ASCS Canyon on Saturday.
