Hodges Motorsports Update - Hank Arnold Memorial

The first night of the Hank Arnold Memorial is wrapped up at the USA Raceway here in Tucson, Arizona. 21 cars were here to play, and we got under way pullin pill number 1 to start on the pole of the first heat. The track got slick through the middle with a good cushion, and I was able to get a good start and take of in the heat. I was able to lead all 8 laps to win the heat, which put us in the top 8 redraw. I drew number 2 in that to start outside of the front row. On the initial start, I was able to jump to the lead and put some distance between me and second running on the cushion next to the fence. About 5 laps in we had our first caution on which I got a good restart and got another lead before another caution a lap later. I wasn't as fortunate this time and fell back to second. I worked myself almost to the bumper of the leader again when I got myself in trouble with a lap car and slipped back to 5th. From there I ran the rest of the race, and I never could get my rythm back, and we ended up crossing the line 4th. We were really fast in the heat and the early part of the main, but I lost a bit of it in teh second half so we will work on it for tomorrow's big show. A big thanks to Brad Benic for helping us out tonight, and we hope to git er' done tomorrow.
