Williamson, Moden, Welch, Susice, and Newton Win at Ransomville
RANSOMVILLE, NY (July 25, 2025) Four-time defending track champion “Money” Mat Williamson from Ridgeway, Ontario won his sixth Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature of the season as Chris’s Appliance Repair presented Halloween in July featuring the fan favorite Autograph Night at the Ransomville Speedway Friday night. Jordan Moden from Medina, NY won his first career Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Mike Welch from Stanley, NY won his first KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks feature of the season and claimed the Bud’s Bounty. Cole Susice from Ransomville, NY won his third Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks feature of the season. Fourth generation driver Lucas Newton from Oakfield, NY won the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature.
John Smith and Jesse Cotriss brought the Krown Undercoating 358 Modified feature to the green flag, with Cotriss taking off into the lead ahead of Steve Lewis Jr, Noah Walker, Smith, and Andrew Smith. Nelson Mason and Gary Lindberg were able to get around John Smith to move into the top five on lap four. Steve Lewis Jr would lose a couple of positions after he hopped the cushion on lap six. Mat Williamson would pass Mason to enter the top five on lap eight. With Cotriss continuing to show the way, Walker would race in second place, ahead of Andrew Smith, Gary Lindberg, and Mat Williamson. Williamson would pass Lindberg for fourth on lap 14. The caution would come out on lap 17 as Ryan Susice spun in turn two. Cotriss would continue to show the way, with Williamson jumping to second place. Williamson would take over the lead on lap 21, with Cotriss in hot pursuit. Williamson would pull away from the field to earn his sixth win of the season.
Jordan Moden and Austin Susice were on the front row for the Stirling Lubricants DIRTcar Sportsman feature event, with Susice in the lead ahead of Moden, Tyler Foster, Jim Harbison, and Jake Bansmer. Tony Pangrazio suffered a flat right rear tire to bring out the caution on lap one. The restart green would see Susice back in the lead with Moden, Jake Bansmer, Derek Wagner, and Abby Castile racing in the top five. Castile would pass Wagner for fourth place on lap four. Moden would regain the lead on lap six. Jake Bansmer would battle and pass Susice to take over second on lap eight. Brett Senek would work his way into the top ten after visiting the pits during the opening caution period. Austin Susice’s top five run would come to an end on lap 19 as he came to a stop in turn four. The lap 19 restart would see Moden and Bansmer on the front row, with Moden in the lead as Cam Tuttle worked his way to second place. Moden would hold off Tuttle to score the win, his first of his Sportsman career.
Dave Stolzenberg Jr and Mike Kelly were on the front row for the KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks with Kelly in the lead ahead of Stolzenberg Jr, John Zimmerman, Josh Pangrazio, and Alex Morris. Zimmerman would take over second on lap three and would go after race leader Kelly. Mike Welch would enter the top five and would challenge Alex Morris for fourth place at the race’s midway point. Welch would then take over third from Stolzenberg Jr on lap 14, with Josh Pangrazio rebounding and moving into fourth place with six laps remaining. While running in second, John Zimmerman pulled his number 0 into the pits. Mick Kulak hit the turn one wall to bring out the caution on lap 17. On the restart, Kelly would continue to show the way. Mike Welch would take over the top spot with two laps remaining. Welch would go on to score the win, his first of the season.
Ben Hornquist and Ryan Hessler shared the front row for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks feature event, with fourth place starter Cole Susice taking over the lead on the opening lap. With Susice in the lead, Brandon Close would go three wide with Ben and Matt Hornquist to take over second on lap seven. Ben and Matt would both be able to get around Close to regain the runner up and third spot respectively. Susice would go on to score the win, his third of the season.
Christian Soliday and Madyson Rouse were on the front row for the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman feature event, with Soliday in the lead ahead of Rouse and Newton. Bubby Pawlak spun in turn three to bring out the caution on lap three. The caution would come back out on lap four as Soliday slowed in turn two, with Jocelyn Just, Troyer Catalano, Bubby Pawlak, and Johnny Zimmerman were involved. On the restart, Lucas Newton would take over the lead from Rouse, with Chris Miller, Matthew Jessome, and Kyle Teeter racing in the top five. Newton would go on to earn the checkered flag.
Ransomville Speedway will have the night off next Friday night, August 1 as the track prepares for the Versus Monster Truck event on Saturday, August 2. Tickets for the Monster Truck show are available online by checking out Versus Monster Trucks on social media.
The Friday night racing program will return on Friday, August 8 as IMA North America and Bailey Brothers Landscaping presents a full card of racing. Pit gates will open at 5pm, grandstands at 6pm, and racing will get underway at 7:15pm.
